Alexis Joy Hagestad (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist who uses lens-based media and multispecies collaboration within her research. Born and raised in Missoula, Montana, the landscape profoundly shaped her understanding of the natural world and our connection to it as human beings. Growing up surrounded by a diverse ecosystem, Hagestad's work reflects the feelings of her childhood in such expansive environments, paralleling this experience with her familial connections. Her research highlights the often-overlooked narratives of various species. By exploring ecological and personal grief, she investigates the interconnectedness of all living beings and aims to challenge conventional human perspectives.
